Line In Audio is open! Now, off to GDC…

…and so begins my new adventure. This January saw the closing of Ensemble Studios, the game development studio where I cut my teeth as a game audio professional. Ensemble was not only home to my career for over nine years, but it was a place where I developed lasting relationships. Heck, I met and married my wife there. Needless to say, it was hard to see its doors closed, but life moves on.

For me, that means continuing in game audio along an independent path. I’ve started my own company called “Line In Audio”, providing VO direction and game audio management services. The website (www.lineinaudio.com) is now live, and I have to give big thanks to my good friend Bryan Hehmann for making that happen. Even though he had his own professional transition to deal with (he too was with Ensemble Studios and he is now with Robot Entertainment), he spent countless hours hammering out the website with me. So, big thanks to you Bryan!

The first task for me in my new role will be attending GDC. It’s been a few years since I’ve been able to attend the conference and I’m really looking forward to it. The audio track is full of goodness and I’ll be able to see a few old friends. It should be a lot of fun. As an added bonus, the weather forcast looks quite nice!

Venturing out on my own professionally isn’t the only new experience for me, as this is my first time blogging as well. I’m going to do my best to post with at least some sense of regularity. I’m anxious to see how all of this goes.
